A full moon behind pine branches seen from directly below, the needles crossing the light — drawn entirely in mother-of-pearl.
Every surface shifts the way the inside of a shell does: blush, peach, mint and lilac moving as you move, with fine gold holding the edges. It is an old East Asian subject given a material it was never made from, which is why it does not read as a reproduction of anything.
Soft in colour but not quiet in effect — it carries a bedroom on its own, and it warms a cool wall without turning the room pink.
